ORCHESTRAL CONDUCTING MEETINGS
10th Symposium Orchestra Conducting
BILBAO MUSIKA INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR CONDUCTORS
from 27 to 30 January 2026

The main aim of these meetings is to foster the study of orchestral conducting in contemporary musical formations, along with offering artistic and technical resources to develop the leading of instrumental groups.
In this new call, conducting classes will be combined with the development of the "BILBAO MUSIKA International Conducting Award" competition. The participants selected in the active student modality will conduct the Bilbao Municipal Band in the practical classes of the course. Both these classes, as well as the theoretical ones to be held in the evening, will be open to all those enrolled in the course, both in active or listening mode.
In previous editions we have had the following master instructors: Johan de Meij (Holland), Jan van der Roost (Belgium), Franco Cesarini (Switzerland), Thomas Doss (Austria), Bert Appermont (Belgium), Douglas Bostock (United Kingdom), Isabelle Ruf-Weber (Switzerland) and Timothy Reynish (United Kingdom) and Miguel Etchegoncelay (Argentina). On this occasion, Alberto Roque, a Portuguese professor of conducting at the Leira Polytechnic Institute, will be visiting us as a guest teacher and president of the jury.
